La Venaria Reale, Galleria Grande (Great Gallery)
Reggia di Venaria, in the small town of Venaria Reale, located  about 10 km north of Turin, Italy, is a hunting-and pleasure palace, built by Duke Carlo Emanuele II,  1663. Early in 1693 the castle was burned down by French troops and was afterwards rebuilt in three stages until the middle of the 18th century, making it a baroque structure of huge dimensions. Benedetto Alfieri (1699 - 1767) was the main architect. The castle had a turbulent history during which it dilapidated more and more, especially when, after being conquered by Napoleon, his army looted and then use it as barracks.
In 1998, the the Reggia di Venaria was reopened for restorations that lasted nearly a decade. Today, the Reggia di Venaria a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Reggia includes 50 hectares of gardens with multiple pools.
